The American Cochlear Implant Alliance is a not-for-profit membership organization created with the purpose of eliminating barriers to cochlear implantation by sponsoring research, driving heightened awareness and advocating for improved access to cochlear implants for patients of all ages across the US. ACI Alliance members are clinicians, scientists, educators, and others on cochlear implant teams as well as parent and consumer advocates. An annual meeting for professional members is convened.

Abstract Submission

The Call for Abstracts for the 14th International Conference on Cochlear Implants and Other Implantable Technologies located at the Sheraton Toronto Centre, May 11-14, 2016, is now open!  Click here to submit your abstract online today! The abstract submission deadline is November 23, 2015 at 11:59 pm CT.

Update: The CI2016 Abstract Submission Deadline has been extended! The extended deadline is Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:59pm CT. 

Please note that this is the only extension that will be offered. We encourage authors to double check that their abstracts have been saved and completed -- any submissions still in draft format after the deadline will not be reviewed.

The Scientific Program Chairs encourage submission of your scientific contributions for presentation at the meeting. The program will include international podium and poster sessions presenting research on cochlear implants and other implantable technologies across the age continuum. All presenters of papers and posters are required to register for CI2016 and are responsible for their own travel expenses.

The Program Committee has the responsibility to review and rank all abstracts that are submitted. The abstracts will be considered for both Podium and Poster Presentation. Email notifications will be sent to the corresponding author.

Scientific Program

Panels and scientific presentations will address a large variety of topics including single sided deafness, adult auditory rehabilitation strategies, brain-stem implantation for non tumor patients, bilateral cochlear implantation, cochlear implants and music appreciation, remote programming as well as barriers to access.

The group rate for this meeting is $249 sgl/dbl per night plus taxes/fees.  Reservations can be made by contacting Sheraton Centre Toronto’s Reservations at 1-888-627-7175 and mention you are with CI2016 International or use the group ID: COC516. You may make a reservation online by clicking the following link, https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/Book/COC516  in order to receive the group rate.  The cut-off date for making reservations is Monday, April 11, 2016; reservations made after this date, or after the room block is filled, are subject to rate and space availability. A deposit of one night’s room and tax is required when making your reservations.

The CI2016 group rate will be offered 3 days prior and 3 days after the meeting dates (May 10 -14, 2016) subject to availability of guest rooms in the hotel's group inventory. Please plan your trip early if you are interested in extending your stay beyond the actual meeting dates. Cancellations must be received by 6pm the day prior to arrival in order to avoid a cancellation penalty of 1 night’s room and tax. Hotel check-in is 3pm and check-out is 12noon.


Attendees are reminded that a valid Passport is required for travel to and from Toronto, Canada. Processing times for routine applications takes 4-6 weeks, expedited applications take 3 weeks. Substitution and Cancellation Policy:

Substitutions: Substitution of one individual to another is not permitted.
Cancellation: Cancellation requests must be made in writing and received on or before Monday, April 11, 2016.  There is a $50 handling fee for all refunds and returned checks. Cancellations and registrations postmarked after the deadline date will not be eligible for refunds.
